Have you ever heard of the Disney Tsum Tsum? Maybe you have seen one or two of them on display in your local Target or Disney store. We interviewed Elsie Chang, who is one of the Product Designers at Innovart Design Inc., and a big collector of these cute, fluffy toys.
Read what she says to learn more about her collection and get some ideas on where you can put them in your car, and which ones to buy for Easter.
1. What is a Tsum Tsum?
“Disney Tsum Tsum is the name of a range of Japanese collectible stuffed toys based on Disney and Pixar characters.”
2. How long have you been collecting Tsum Tsums for?
“For almost 2 years.”
3. What about them attracted you to them and made you start collecting them?
“I am a fan of Disney since I was young and I collect many different kinds of Disney plush. I knew of Tsum Tsum of because of the Tsum Tsum mobile game. One day I went out with my boyfriend (now my husband), we passed a Disney store and I decided to check out what’s new inside and I saw Tsum Tsum plushies. I decided to buy Judy and Nick Tsum Tsum because we just watched Zootopia movie. And this the beginning of my Tsum Tsum journey.”
4. Where do you buy them? How do you get them?
“I usually purchase them from Disney store US, and some of them I bought from other Tsummates. I also collect the Japanese versions of Tsum Tsums from Disney stores in Japan, but usually my friend ships them to me.”
5. How many do you have now?
6. Which are your favorite ones?
“My favorite ones are Bing Bong from the movie, Inside Out, Thumper and Miss Bunny from Bambi, and Chip n’ Dale, from the Rescue Rangers.”
7. What do you do with them after you buy them?
“I display them on my wall and my shelf. My dream is to have a Tsum Tsum wall.”
8. Are there any that you like putting in your car?
“Yes! I like to bring Tsum Tsums everywhere.”
9. Where do you put them in your car?
“I put them under the control panel since there is a perfect spot for putting 6 tsum tsums. Also, sometimes I put Tsum Tsums in the back of the car because I want the drivers behind me to see them, so I can bring some cuteness and joy to others.”
10. Since Easter is coming, which ones do you think would be good for parents to buy for their kids for Easter?
“You can find Tsum Tsums at the Disney store and at some retailers; for example, Target. They have the Easter Tsum Tsum Vinyl Pack and Blind Pack. They are also very cute to collect and good for Easter egg hunts. Kids will love them! The Disney store released an Easter themed Tsum Tsum plush set as well, which you can get online or in-store.”
